“We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, we shall never surrender.”
-Winston Churchill,
“Damn it! Why’d they have to come today, now?” Ginny said to no one in particular as the D.A. ran for the group of Death Eaters they saw Apparate in a few minutes ago.
“What was that?” Neville asked.
“Nothing, Nev,” Ginny said, Yelling now, she said. “All right, guys! This is the real thing! Neville, take your squads and go for the left flank!”
“Yes, Sir,” Neville said. “Enter attack formation and form on me!” They complied and they dove for his left flank.
“Luna,!” Ginny ordered. “Go for their right!”
Luna responded, gave the same orders and dove for the enemy right.
Turning to her squad Ginny said. “We will go for the enemy center.”
“You sure this will work, Ginny?” Colin, her friend and squad second-in-command said.
“No, but we have no choice.” Ginny said. “Attempt to go straight at them and we will be torn apart in five seconds.” Suddenly a scream was heard echoing in the yard… and the Dark Mark exploded into existence overhead. Ginny saw a young girl, barely five years old, lying under it.
“They’re killing the civilians; we’ve got to take them.” Ginny said as her squad rushed forward.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione burst into the back door to find it in pure chaos. The Dark Mark was in the sky and everyone was running and screaming. They pushed through to find MacGonagalll, Shacklebolt, Moody, Tonks, Lupin, every Weasley boy (even Percy bothered to show up), Madam Maxime, and even Fleur, all with their wands out. Hagrid even had his crossbow, with a bolt attached and locked in.
“What’s going on, Harry?” Mrs.Weasley asked frantically. “Where’s my daughter?!”
The other Weaasleys asked the same question until Harry said, “She’s doing her duty.”
“You mean,” Mr. Weasley said. “She’s out with the D.A. right now fighting those monsters?”
“Yes,” Harry said quickly. “We need to get her help now; she’s outnumbered over two to one.”
“Your right,” Percy said. “We have to go. Right now.”
Agreed, they all pushed forward through the fleeing crowds to get to the front where the battle was raging.
“Neville, Luna,” Ginny said fiercely into her comm.-mirror. “Kill the bastards.
“Roger,” They said. They immediately opened fire with nonverbal Reduction spells. Harry had drilled them all extensively in nonverbal spells to give them the advantage. The Reduction spells were capable of blowing holes in human flesh with the power of assault rifles. So the immediate effect was rather gruesome. Legs and arms were shattered; heads were blown clean out of existence, among other things. They succeeded in killing five with the initial barrage, but the rest managed to cast Shield Charms in time to avoid being killed.
Ginny spotted a black robed Death Eater and fired. The blast ripped through her, killing her instantly. Ginny barely paid attention, she had a job to do, and all the adrenaline coursing through her body did it’s job and tried to make her stop thinking. Battle rage and bloodlust almost consumed her right there, but she couldn’t let herself succumb. She was a soldier, she had a job to do, three squads to at least try to coordinate in this chaos, and civilians to protect. She knew if she succumbed, she, her soldiers and everyone else were doomed. So she shook it off and continued to give orders
As the Order members pushed through, Ron opened up his mirror to hear how they were doing, as it was established procedure to keep an open channel at all times during an engagement.
“Neville, Padma,” Terry said. “Two tangos closing on your left side.”
“We see them,” Neville said. “Firing…got em!”
“Good job, guys,” Ginny said. “But get these three off me.”
Harry lurched forward hearing the voice of his beloved. The Order rushed through the crowd ever faster, to see Ginny bobbing and weaving to avoid Killing Curses. The Order rushed through the crowd ever faster to see Ginny bobbing and weaving to avoid Killing Curses.
Harry saw her and instinctively ordered Ron and Hermione to shoot to kill and fired. The Reduction spells tore through two of them and distracted the third so Ginny could get a shot in.
“Thanks, Harry,” Ginny said. Harry paused briefly to address his ex’s state. Her uniform was torn, and she was covered in blood. Though the fact she was still breathing suggested it wasn’t her own; at least not entirely.
“Oh, my God,” Molly shrieked. “Ginny!” She rushed forward to her daughter. Molly grabbed Ginny and smothered her with hugs.
“Uh, Mum,” Ginny said, ever the soldier. “Not right now.” Then a Death Eater sent a green park in the air, and Hagrid sighted the Death Eater and fired, taking the Death Eater out.
However, a curious thing happened. Every Death Eater stopped using Killing Curses, and switched over to Stunning spells. Six nearby Death Eaters opened fire, pelting them with Stunning spells. The spells bounced off the DA Shield Cloaks harmlessly. They wouldn’t for long though, the color watched how much charge it had. Once it turned back, they’d automatically self-destruct, useless. H
Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and the Order immediately returned fire, however not before a young black man in Death Eater robes walked up.
Blaise Zabini? Harry thought. Why am I not surprised. He pointed his wand at him, fully intending to take him down. Before he could, though, he threw something and they were consumed in darkness.
Ginny was shocked when he threw the Instant Darkness Powder. However, she shook it off and fired a Reduction Spell. Blaise blocked it and fired one of his own in front of his legs. He fired a plasma bolt which blacked out her Shield Cloak, and fired a Stunning spell, which took her out. He grabbed her unconscious form and fired off a red spark in the air. Immediately every Death Eater disengaged and Dissapparated. Blaise looked at her, spit at her, and Side-along Apparated with her.
When the Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder dissipated, Harry, Ron, and Hermione surveyed the carnage. There were dead, wounded, and dying Death Eaters everywhere, and the DA milled about, all of them, their eyes wide and their hands shaking. The adrenaline was wearing off, for the first time they realized they killed humans. The shock was starting to get to him as well, as the dead men’s faces replayed over and over again in his mind. He looked around; the doctors were starting to triage people, civilians, DA, and Death Eaters alike. He looked around again and realized something else was missing. Where was Ginny? Oh, God, no. Harry thought as he looked frantically. Then he saw it, Ginny’s wand sticking out of the ground. He picked it up, and he roared, all the grief and pain he had endured since the break-up spilling out in one gut-wrenching shout of pain and sadness.
Ginny awoke to find herself strapped to a wooden table in a stone room lit only by torches. Where the hell am I? Ginny thought through a blazing headache. Then she remembered the battle, and Blaise Zabini firing and her blacking out. Oh, crap, have I been captured, she thought. She remembered what Major Thomas taught her in Basic. If ever you’re captured, tell them nothing but your name, rank, and serial number. And it is your duty to attempt to escape and make it back to your lines.
Then the door opened and two Death Eaters walked in. She recognized them as Blaise Zabini, and that thing Bellatrix Lestrange. Blaise pointed his wand at her, and she braced herself for the Cruciatus Curse.
“Scourgify,” he said. And he realized he was cleaning all the blood off her. Must not like to torture people covered in blood, she thought.
“Now, tell me,” Blaise said, “Everything about the DA.”
She was tempted to curse at him but her training also told her that was the way to get her killed. So she followed the dictates of her training.
“Weasley,” Ginny began. “Ginevra Molly, serial number: DA 004”
“That’s not what I want to hear,” Lestrange said darkly. Pointing her wand at her, she began, “Cruci-“
“Wait!” Blaise said. “The Dark Lord wants the information first. We need to Veritaserum her then we can have fun.” He smirked gladly.
My, God, Ginny thought suddenly truly scared for the first time since the recent battle. He’s as insane as Bellatrix.
Bellatrix didn’t apparently agree with this course of action, as she backhanded him across the face. “What are you stupid?! Veritaserum is only effective when the subject is sufficiently weakened. We weaken her, and then she’ll talk.” Then her voice turned as cold and stony as the walls of the room they were in. “And it would be well for you to remember your place.”
“You’re right, Master.” Blaise said, bowing his head in shame.
Ah, ha, Ginny thought. She’s the Master, he’s the apprentice.
“But this red-headed slut isn’t known for breaking under pressure.” Blaise said.
“Oh,” Lestrange said. “But this pressure is unlike anything she’s ever faced before.”
And in that last minute, she wanted to run from a situation for the first time in her life.
“Crucio!” Lestrange said.
Ginny’s scream ripped out of her, and echoed through the chamber.
